Lotus has officially revealed the new Emira 420 Sport, the most extreme version of the British sports car, combining more power, less weight and aerodynamic improvements inspired by the brand’s classic philosophy of “simplify and add lightness”.

The car uses a 2.0-litre turbo engine from Mercedes-AMG, recalibrated to deliver 420 PS, equivalent to around 414 horsepower, along with 500 Nm of torque. According to Lotus, the sports car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in around 3.9 seconds and can reach a top speed of 299 km/h.

The new version also received a series of changes to improve track performance. These include suspension lowered by 5 mm, new aerodynamic elements, brakes with optimised cooling and increased downforce without raising drag.

With the optional Lightweight Handling Pack, the Emira 420 Sport loses around 25 kg thanks to the use of a titanium exhaust, lithium-ion battery and carbon-fibre parts. The package also includes adjustable Multimatic dampers and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres aimed at track use.

Visually, the model gains larger air intakes, new side skirts, a redesigned diffuser and a rear deck with ventilation outlets. Lotus also introduced a new colour called Tangelo Orange, created especially for this version. Another new feature is a removable smoked-glass roof panel, available for the first time on the Emira.

The 2027 Emira 420 Sport can be ordered now, with deliveries expected to begin in August 2026. Pricing in the US starts at US$ 125,400.

The Emira 420 Sport arrives at a transitional moment for Lotus. The manufacturer has already confirmed that the sports car will abandon its current Toyota and AMG engines from 2027 to adopt a new V6 hybrid powertrain developed by Horse Powertrain, a company linked to Renault and Geely.
