The United States has approved a new sale of equipment and services for the Hawk air defense systems used by Ukraine.
The package, valued at around US$ 108.1 million, includes technical support, maintenance, spare parts and upgrades to expand the operational capability of the batteries already employed by Ukrainian forces.
Among the items requested by Kyiv are trailers for launcher mast systems, as well as structural modifications and logistics support.
The initiative is part of the ongoing effort by Western allies to reinforce the protection of Ukrainian airspace amid Russian attacks using drones and cruise missiles.
The American company Sierra Nevada Corporation will be the main contractor responsible for the project. Since the end of 2022, MIM-23 Hawk systems have been sent to Ukraine by different partner countries, becoming one of the layers of the air defense network used to protect cities and strategic infrastructure.

The Hawk Phase III version received digital components, more modern radars and improvements to the command center, allowing it to intercept targets at distances of up to 40 kilometers and at altitudes of up to 18 kilometers.

The U.S. Department of State has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Ukraine for Hawk Missile System Sustainment and related equipment. The estimated total cost is $108.1 million.
