Volkswagen has confirmed the return of the ID.Buzz for the 2027 model year after temporarily halting sales of the electric van in the United States in 2026.
According to Car and Driver, the lineup will receive technology updates and a new version called the Tourer 4Motion, developed especially for travel and camping.
The model includes a folding bed, window curtains, ventilation panels, an outdoor table with chairs, and an Overnight Mode, software created to allow occupants to spend the night inside the vehicle.

The new configuration was inspired by the European Good Night package, sold in some European markets. In addition to the camping-focused items, the Tourer will feature all-wheel drive, an electrochromic panoramic roof, individual rear seats, and 20-inch wheels.
All 2027 ID.Buzz models will also receive the new ID.S 6 multimedia system, based on Android, as well as compatibility with the Tesla Supercharger network via an NACS adapter. Volkswagen said the software has been redesigned to improve navigation and make internal commands faster and more intuitive.

The model’s return to the U.S. market comes after a first year with sales below the brand’s expectations. Although it was successful in Europe, the ID.Buzz faced criticism in the United States over its high price and range considered limited.
Prices for the 2027 lineup have not yet been announced, but the previous model cost between US$61,000 and US$72,000 in the U.S. Sales of the new version are expected to begin in the second half of 2026.
