Ukraine and Lithuania have announced a new military cooperation agreement focused on the joint production of drones and the strengthening of regional security.
The agreement was confirmed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky after a meeting with Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda.
According to Zelensky, the partnership will allow both countries to expand their defense capabilities in the face of modern threats, especially those related to the growing use of drones in military conflicts. The agreement also provides for the deployment of Ukrainian military specialists to Lithuanian territory to work on the development of security and air defense systems.
The Ukrainian government said the initiative is part of broader cooperation with allied European countries, including support for the Baltic states and Finland in preventing drone incursions into their airspace. Kyiv also thanked Lithuania for its continued support for Ukraine’s accession to the European Union.
In addition to the partnership with Lithuania, Ukraine is also negotiating possible strategic cooperation with the United States in the drone sector. A preliminary memorandum drafted by the two countries could pave the way for the export of Ukrainian military technologies and the creation of joint ventures with American companies, expanding the production of defense equipment.
