Poland’s defense industry presented at IDEB 2026 in Bratislava a new export version of the Borsuk infantry fighting vehicle.
The model was developed through a partnership between the state-owned Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ), via Huta Stalowa Wola, and Slovak company EVPÚ Defence, responsible for integrating the unmanned Turra 30V9 turret. The joint proposal aims to expand both countries’ presence in the international armored vehicle market.
The Borsuk is Poland’s new amphibious infantry fighting vehicle and was created to replace the Polish Army’s aging BMP-1 and BWP-1 vehicles. The armored vehicle features an aluminum alloy hull with composite armor, amphibious capability, and space for three crew members and six transported soldiers. The version displayed at IDEB focuses on a modular configuration, allowing different weapons and electronic systems options to meet the requirements of foreign customers.
The Turra 30V9 turret uses an unmanned system equipped with modern fire-control capabilities and hunter-killer functionality, allowing the commander to identify new targets while the gunner engages already detected threats. The main armament is the 30 mm GTS-30/A automatic cannon, compatible with Soviet-standard ammunition, although integration with NATO-standard ammunition and Bushmaster II-series cannons is also possible. The vehicle also features a 7.62 mm coaxial machine gun and dual launchers for Spike LR2 anti-tank missiles.
The armored vehicle presentation was attended by Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, reinforcing political support for the joint project. Another detail that drew attention was the desert camouflage used on the vehicle, indicating a focus on potential Middle Eastern customers. EVPÚ already maintains industrial operations in Saudi Arabia, a factor that could facilitate future negotiations with Arab countries interested in local production and industrial cooperation.
