Turkish company ASELSAN unveiled two new unmanned naval systems during the SAHA 2026 fair, expanding Turkey’s role in the autonomous maritime warfare sector.
The highlights were the KILIÇ family of underwater attack systems and the TUFAN unmanned surface vehicle, both developed to operate in coordination during autonomous missions at sea.
The KILIÇ line was created for discreet underwater operations and asymmetric warfare scenarios. According to the company, the systems combine portability, low detectability, and high-precision strikes, and can operate alone or in coordinated swarms. The concept allows smaller naval forces and special units to access underwater offensive capabilities without relying on large conventional submarines.
TUFAN, meanwhile, was designed for offensive missions and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance operations. The unmanned vessel combines high speed, strong mobility, and advanced autonomy features, and can operate both in coastal areas and in open waters. The system also uses swarm technology, allowing multiple units to automatically share tasks during a mission.
According to ASELSAN CEO Ahmet Akyol, the new projects reflect the growing importance of autonomy in modern maritime operations. The company says it intends to apply its experience in the development of aerial drones to the naval environment, reinforcing Turkey’s strategy of expanding its presence in the international market for unmanned military systems.
