European manufacturer ARX Robotics has announced a new contract to supply several hundred additional GEREON unmanned ground vehicles to Ukraine’s Defense Forces.
With the new agreement, the company will expand its fleet operating in the country to five times its initial size, consolidating its position as the leading Western supplier of ground robots to the Ukrainians.
The announcement comes amid the rapid expansion of Ukraine’s use of unmanned systems. The Ukrainian government has revealed plans to acquire 25,000 ground robots in the first half of 2026 alone, in an effort to automate logistics operations on the front line and reduce soldiers’ exposure to enemy drone and artillery attacks.
The GEREON vehicles feature a modular design, allowing them to be adapted for different missions without the need for major structural modifications. Currently, the systems are mainly used for transporting supplies, evacuating wounded personnel and providing logistical support in high-risk areas. The company also stated that new capabilities may be added according to the operational needs of Ukrainian forces.
In addition to delivering the vehicles, ARX Robotics intends to expand its industrial and technical support structure inside Ukraine, in partnership with local suppliers. The company highlighted that direct contact with military personnel in combat makes it possible to accelerate improvements to the systems, using real operational data to enhance the performance, maintenance and efficiency of the robots in the field.
