Poland and Ukraine have unveiled a joint project to establish a “drone fleet,” combining Polish funding with Ukrainian operational expertise.

According to the Ukrainian outlet Militarnyi, the initiative was presented by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Ukrainian First Deputy Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko during the Road to URC conference in Rzeszów. According to the website Defense24, the European Defence Fund is also expected to be involved in the project.

Donald Tusk noted that Ukraine, which has been repelling the Russian invasion for many months, has gained unique experience in air defense and in countering drone attacks. According to him, this expertise should become part of Poland’s defense experience and its practical capabilities to protect its airspace.

Tusk also stated that the Polish drone fleet project will be developed based on joint European and national funding, as well as Ukrainian technological expertise.

Meanwhile, Yuliia Svyrydenko highlighted the significant transformation of Ukraine’s defense sector, which has developed substantially since the beginning of the war and has become one of the key elements of the state.

According to her, the country, which initially received external aid, is now capable of creating advanced military solutions on its own. In her view, cooperation with Poland can benefit both sides, both in the field of security and in the development of the defense industry and new economic projects.

Svyrydenko also noted that Poland is one of Ukraine’s most important partners, providing significant support since the beginning of the war.
