On March 12, a driver from the city of Potomac, Maryland, USA, accidentally engaged the reverse gear of his car while leaving a parking lot near an animal rehabilitation center.

According to Fox 5, the driver confused the reverse gear of the automatic car with the “drive” function. The vehicle destroyed the front of the establishment and fell into the pool.

The location was closed, and there were no people or animals at the time of the collision. The driver suffered minor injuries and had a dog in the back seat. The animal was not injured.

According to the owner’s statement to the broadcaster, the rehabilitation center serves 140 dogs per day with post-surgery recovery services and exercise programs for older animals.

She said she decided to close the facility earlier on the day the driver crashed into the site.

The former owner, Dominiq Darcis, lamented the destruction caused. She opened the clinic in 2015.

“I thought it had been an earthquake. It’s really very sad. This place was my baby for 11 years,” Dominiq commented.
