A video released by the Omaha Police Department captured the moment two cars were swallowed by a crater after part of a roadway collapsed on Tuesday (2/24) in the city of Omaha, United States.

The footage shows the asphalt suddenly giving way, causing the vehicles to sink into the affected intersection. Police teams were immediately dispatched and, upon arriving at the scene, confirmed that both automobiles had fallen into the hole that opened in the roadway.

According to Officer Sarah Martier, the drivers were able to exit their vehicles with the help of bystanders. Despite the impact and the scare, no injuries were reported.

A traffic alert was issued to inform drivers about the closure of the area. According to Lieutenant Dan Martin, the crater occupied both lanes of the road and extended underground, compromising the street’s structure.

Police reported that Pacific Street remains closed between 66th Street and 69th Street. Traffic is still allowed on 67th Street only in the north-south direction.

Later, the two vehicles were removed from the crater.
