Ukraine is currently testing several types of microwave weapons to counter new Russian threats, revealed the Ukrainian portal Militarnyi.
The information was shared by Andrii Hrytseniuk, CEO of Brave1. According to the outlet, these weapons use powerful electromagnetic radiation in the microwave range to disable equipment, including drones.
“Microwave weapons are more complex because Ukraine does not have strong experience in this field. But we are already conducting some tests,” explained Hrytseniuk.
Currently, these are the only weapon systems capable of engaging multiple drones simultaneously, offering a low cost per “shot” and a potential “unlimited supply of ammunition.”
In August 2025, the company Epirus conducted a demonstration of the microwave system Leonidas (IFPC-HPM), designed to destroy unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
Hrytseniuk did not share further details about the results of the tests of systems produced in Ukraine, but according to Militarnyi, microwave weapons are expected to become useful tools in the fight against drones.
