The Thai Army officially received the D-Iron RCV, a combat ground robot based on the Estonian THeMIS platform and armed with a 30mm cannon.
Images shared on social media show soldiers in a forest environment, indicating training and familiarization activities with the new system.
The D-Iron RCV is the result of international cooperation between the Thai Defense Technology Institute, the Estonian company Milrem Robotics, and the Australian company Electro Optic Systems. The project reflects Thailand’s efforts to expand the use of unmanned systems in modern military operations.
The robot is equipped with the EOS R400S Mk2 HD combat module, which integrates the M230LF 30mm cannon, manufactured by Northrop Grumman. The same manufacturer supplies versions of the system used in Ukrainian YPR-765 armored vehicles, although in these cases with 40mm automatic grenade launchers.
In addition to military interest, the D-Iron RCV has also attracted attention from internal security forces. According to reports, the Thai police tested the system in 2023, signaling potential applications in both military missions and public security operations.
