Shelby American has brought back the Super Snake for 2026, a relatively affordable supercar considering the power it offers.
While Ford’s Mustang GTD produces 815 horsepower and starts at around US$325,000, the new Shelby American Super Snake delivers 830 horsepower for less than half the price.
Under the hood, the Super Snake already comes equipped with a very powerful 5.0-liter V-8 engine. As an option, however, you can make it even more powerful with a Whipple supercharger.

Even more interesting is that, unlike other tuned models, the Super Snake can achieve this level of power using 98 RON fuel, without the need for any special fuel blends.
To handle all that energy, the Super Snake also receives a reinforced cooling system with a new radiator and heat exchanger. The Shelby model also comes with a Borla exhaust, stickier tires, and upgraded brake rotors.

The Super Snake will also be sold without the Whipple supercharger, but in that case the power output drops significantly. In its base version, the Super Snake uses the same 5.0-liter, 480-hp V-8 found in the Mustang GT on which it is based.
Regardless of the configuration chosen, the Super Snake comes with the same visual upgrades as the more expensive Super Snake R, including a lighter hood, widebody carbon-fiber fenders, and magnesium wheels.
All of this comes with a starting price of US$175,885, a huge jump over the GT on which it is based and still US$50,000 less than the Super Snake R. Interested? You’d better act fast to secure yours: Shelby will offer only 300 units for sale in the United States.
