Belrise Industries, from India, and Plasan Sasa, from Israel, have formed a partnership to develop and produce electric military vehicles for the Indian market.
According to information shared by the companies, the partnership is focused on introducing and adapting the All-Terrain Electric Mission Module (ATEMM) platform to meet the Indian military’s requirements.
The partnership will focus on adapting the ATEMM vehicles to the needs of the Indian Armed Forces, leveraging Plasan‘s expertise in automotive survivability and defense systems, as well as Belrise‘s industrial presence in India.
The ATEMM is described as an electric, self-propelled platform designed to support modern armed forces by enhancing payload capacity, onboard power, survivability, and mobility.
The companies stated that the system is intended to be mission-ready and adaptable to a variety of military functions. As a result of the partnership, it is expected that the ATEMM platforms could be produced locally, meeting operational requirements.
This agreement aligns with India’s broader defense industrial policies, including the government’s Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives, which aim to expand domestic defense manufacturing and reduce reliance on foreign imports.
Beyond India, the partnership is expected to make Belrise an integral part of Plasan‘s global supply chain. This would allow the cost-effective production of Plasan‘s advanced systems in India, supporting not only India’s defense programs but also Plasan‘s international operations.
Meanwhile, Belrise has stated that its role will extend beyond assembly to include deeper involvement in manufacturing as the programs mature.
The companies have not disclosed timelines, contract values, or whether a specific Indian military program has already been identified for the adoption of the ATEMM platform. However, the partnership demonstrates a growing trend in global military markets toward electric or hybrid defense and combat equipment.
