Military intelligence of Ukraine stated that two Russian fighter jets were put out of action following a fire at a military airfield near Lipetsk between December 20 and 21.

According to Kyiv, the action was part of a sabotage operation carried out by the resistance movement inside Russia and was allegedly planned over a two-week period.

According to Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate, the aircraft hit were a Su-27 and a Su-30, valued at up to US$ 100 million in total. The agency said the Su-27, bearing tail number “12,” was used for display purposes, while the Su-30, number “82,” was in active service and employed in missions and training.

Russian authorities have not officially commented on the incident, and there is no independent confirmation of the exact extent of the damage.

Lipetsk is one of Russia’s main military aviation hubs, hosting an air base and a training center linked to the country’s tactical aviation operations.
