A Russian drone of the Gerbera model crashed onto a house in northern Moldova on the morning of November 25, according to the Police of the Republic of Moldova.

The equipment fell around 9 AM at the residence of a guard working in an orchard in the village of Nizhni Kugureshti, in the Florești district. Specialized explosive teams were sent to the site, while residents of the area were evacuated as a precaution.

The incident occurred around the same time that Romania and Moldova reported violations of their airspace by Russian drones during a large-scale attack on Ukraine. The Romanian Armed Forces confirmed that they scrambled fighter jets to intercept the unmanned aircraft, while Moldova’s Border Police also acknowledged the airspace intrusion by a Russian UAV.

The Gerbera drone, made of foam plastic and used by Russia since 2024, is employed for electronic reconnaissance, kamikaze attacks, and as bait against air defense systems.

This is not the first incident involving Russian drones or missiles entering Moldovan territory since the start of the war. The European Union announced that it would provide equipment to help Moldova intercept drones starting in 2025, although it has not yet detailed which systems will be delivered.
