Bentley has just unveiled the Supersports, the most driver-focused version of the Continental GT ever released by the British brand.
According to information from Car Magazine, the entire construction process of the vehicle was closely supervised by Frank-Steffen Walliser, former head of Porsche and current CEO of Bentley.
“This is the first project developed from start to finish since I joined Bentley Motors, and I am proud of our team and the speed with which we created a car so different from the GT it’s based on,” said Walliser.
The Supersports is the closest you can get to a true Bentley “GT3”, with no rear seats and rear-wheel drive on a Continental GT for the first time.
“This marks Bentley’s return to producing more extreme cars — vehicles that combine an extraordinary range of capabilities with true driver engagement,” added the CEO.
But unlike the most recent version of the GT, the Supersports abandons the hybrid element in favor of the pure power of the 4.0-liter V8 engine. Even though it is extremely powerful, it seems the focus of the new vehicle is not necessarily speed, but rather the driver experience.
It produces 657 hp and 800 Nm of torque, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 309 km/h. Just as a Porsche 911 GT3 cannot match the outright pace of the Turbo variants, straight-line speed is not Bentley’s absolute priority.
While “lightness” and “Bentley” are not usually found in the same sentence, the Supersports is the lightest car from the British brand in 85 years. Weighing just under 2 tons, it still represents a reduction of nearly 500 kg compared to the regular model.
Production will be very limited, and Bentley plans to build only 500 units of the Supersports, each individually numbered on the center console. The car will officially launch in the UK in 2027, but customers will already be able to order it starting in March 2026.
