The Californian startup Inversion Space introduced the Arc project, a reusable orbital capsule capable of delivering military supplies anywhere in the world in less than an hour.

The system was created to transport critical cargo, such as ammunition, food, and equipment, directly from space to the ground, landing with precision on water, snow, or land. The spacecraft is launched into low orbit and, when activated, performs high-speed atmospheric reentry, controlled by thrusters and an autonomous parachute system that ensures a soft landing and allows for reuse.

The concept follows a path already explored by the United States Transportation Command (TRANSCOM) and SpaceX, who are seeking ways to quickly transport military cargo through space. Although the Arc capsule only transports about 227 kg, Inversion believes that small urgent deliveries could be decisive in critical missions, especially in conflict zones, remote locations, or disaster-affected areas.

Each capsule can remain in orbit for up to five years, and the company plans to form constellations ready to meet various demands. After performing drop tests to validate the landing system, Inversion intends to launch its first mission as early as next year.

If the project proves economically viable, the Arc could mark the beginning of a new era in space-based supply transport, combining speed, precision, and reusability.
