France has officially purchased five Falcon 2000 Albatros aircraft from Dassault Aviation to strengthen the AVSIMAR program, which focuses on maritime surveillance and intervention.

The order, made by the French Defense Procurement and Technology Agency (DGA) in September 2025, brings the total number of units to 12, with seven already acquired in 2020.

Based on the Falcon 2000LXS executive jet, the Albatros model has been adapted for military and security missions, including a multifunction radar, high-precision optronic turret, observation windows, search and rescue (SAR) kit, and advanced communication systems. With a range of 4,000 nautical miles and the ability to operate on challenging runways, the aircraft was developed in collaboration with Naval Group, Safran, and Thales, tested in Istres, and converted at the Mérignac factory.

According to Dassault, France, which holds the second-largest exclusive economic zone in the world, is at the forefront of using this type of aircraft for missions that include combating pollution, fisheries control, border surveillance, as well as search and rescue operations.

The manufacturer also highlights its tradition of adapting Falcon jets for both military and civilian roles, representing about 10% of the global fleet in operation.
