Denmark has ordered the temporary suspension of all civilian drone flights until October 3. The measure was announced by the Ministry of Defense and is directly linked to the upcoming European Union summit, which will take place in the country next week.
According to authorities, the decision was prompted by recent incidents involving drones at airports and aims to enhance security during the presence of European leaders. Transport Minister Thomas Danielsen emphasized that unauthorized drones pose risks of confusion and potential threats, making it essential to ensure the event’s protection.
The ban, backed by the Air Navigation Act, includes penalties that can reach fines or up to two years in prison for violations. However, the restriction does not affect military, police, or drones used for medical and rescue missions.
Additionally, authorities reported recent sightings of unknown drones near the border with Germany, in the state of Schleswig-Holstein.
