Uber Eats in the US will gain a new delivery option by the end of 2025. The company will integrate an autonomous drone delivery system from Flytrex into its platform.

In a statement, Uber said that drone delivery could reduce costs, delivery times, and carbon emissions compared to traditional deliveries.

“Autonomous technology is transforming mobility and delivery faster than ever before,” said Sarfraz Maredia, Head of Autonomous Mobility and Delivery at Uber.

In mid-September, the company announced it plans to offer helicopter rides through a partnership with Joby Aviation, a manufacturer of electric air taxis.

Flytrex has already completed over 200,000 drone deliveries in the US and is one of only four drone delivery service providers authorized by the Federal Aviation Administration.

Uber’s drone delivery service is expected to roll out to users by the end of 2025.
