According to current market rates, the seized gold exceeds the value of R$ 60 million (US$11 million), dealing a major blow to organized crime and the illegal extraction of natural resources.
The operation is part of the Amazon Plan: Security and Sovereignty (AMAS), a Federal Government initiative aimed at strengthening the fight against crime in the Amazon region, promoting security and the protection of national resources.
