If you’ve always wanted an electric car but don’t have much money to spend, then the Bestune Pony is the perfect car for you.

This small electric car from the Chinese manufacturer FAW costs just $4,900 in its base version, which is nearly the same price as a top-of-the-line MacBook from Apple.

The model arrived on the Chinese market just a few months ago and has already become a big success: the manufacturer has already sold over 100,000 units of the Pony, which follows the successful formula of Japanese kei cars.

It is only 3 meters long and 1.5 meters wide, making it perfect for parking in tight spaces. For comparison, it is 1 meter shorter than a Beetle.

The motor is located at the rear, offering 42 hp and 85 Nm of torque, but its top speed is limited to just 100 km/h. Its battery is an 18.11 kWh LFP, offering a range of up to 222 km on the CLTC cycle.

Inside, the car features a minimalist setup, with a digital dashboard, basic air conditioning, a radio with Bluetooth, and parking sensors, while the more complete versions even include a 10.1″ smart infotainment system with AI from Deepseek.

The 2026 Pony is already available in China in five versions, with prices ranging from 34,900 yuan ($4,900) to 45,900 yuan ($6,300), all options featuring an automatic transmission.
