Honda has launched an awareness campaign encouraging children to wear helmets in Thailand following the release of concerning statistics.

According to a report from Nation Thailand, citing a survey by the Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth), despite the popularity of motorcycles in Thailand, only 16% of children wear helmets while riding as passengers.

Furthermore, according to the foundation’s director, Pongthep Wongwatcharapaiboon, 82.5% of road deaths last year involved motorcycle users, with 79% of those deaths caused by head injuries.

That is why Honda, together with Dentsu Thailand, launched the campaign “PROTECT The Power of Dreams“, focusing on protecting the next generation. The idea is that protecting a child’s dreams starts with protecting their life, and that begins with a helmet.

Instead of using intimidation tactics, the campaign takes an emotional approach, showing children dressed as people they might dream of becoming, such as a doctor, a chef, a pilot, a boxer, all wearing helmets.

The campaign was displayed on LED billboards throughout Bangkok, as well as in print and posters. Notably, the word “PROTECT” was handwritten in childlike handwriting to emphasize the innocence and hope at the core of the message.

Beyond the visuals, Honda also held riding safety workshops at its training centers across the country, giving parents and children the opportunity to learn and develop safe riding habits together.

“‘The Power of Dreams’ has always been at the heart of the Honda brand, but we believe dreams can only thrive when safety comes first,” said a representative from Honda Thailand.

“Our children are our future, and it is our responsibility to keep them safe and raise them so they can grow up and pursue their dreams,” said Subun Khow, CCO of Dentsu Thailand.
