A man who transformed his car’s hood into an aquarium went viral on social media when confused passersby started posting clips of the vehicle parked on the streets of China.

The modified car was seen on a busy street in Liaoning Province, China. The vehicle in question is an L9 SUV from the Chinese manufacturer Li Auto, whose hood was transformed into an aquarium.

Clips of the car show several live fish swimming inside the plastic structure that was filled with water. Although it appears stable, some of the videos show a bit of water leaking out.

But where did this crazy idea come from? According to a report from News Flare, the owner of the L9 was going fishing when he realized he had forgotten to bring a container. That’s when he decided that his car’s hood would serve as an improvised holding tank.

Still, the idea was heavily criticized on social media. While they were captured to be killed and perhaps eaten by the fisherman, the fish ended up trapped spending their final moments swimming in a tiny container.

It is not known how long the fish were kept inside the improvised aquarium, but reports say that traffic officers were called and, upon investigating the situation, they determined that the vehicle modification was illegal.
