The United Kingdom has announced a significant breakthrough in the development of directed energy weapons, such as high-powered lasers and radiofrequency systems, with a special focus on the DragonFire project.
The initiative received a new investment of nearly \$1.37 billion, and recent tests demonstrated the effectiveness of these weapons against drones, even in adverse weather conditions. Defense Minister Maria Eagle stated that the DragonFire system’s over 300 firings confirmed the reliability of the technology, including the neutralization of 30 drones. In addition, a radiofrequency weapon test was successfully carried out in partnership with the British Army. According to Eagle, these weapons offer low cost per shot and require less logistics compared to conventional armaments.
