A German businessman, known as Em Jay, decided to cross the Americas aboard a Ferrari Purosangue valued at $1.33 million.
The journey along the Pan-American Highway, which began in May in the Argentine city of Ushuaia, includes passing through 14 countries up to Alaska. However, the trip had to be interrupted after an accident in Peru, between Cusco and Nazca, when another vehicle entered the lane, forcing Em Jay to swerve. The luxury SUV fell into a ditch, suffered axle damage, airbags deployed, and the windshield was broken.
Despite the scare, the businessman emerged unharmed and has already arranged to send the Ferrari to a dealership in Santiago, Chile, where the car will be repaired. Em Jay stated on social media that the adventure will continue once the vehicle is ready to hit the road again.
Before the expedition, the Ferrari was modified by the company Delta4x4 to withstand the challenging route. Among the modifications, the SUV received off-road tires, reinforced wheels, and even Toyota logos instead of the traditional Ferrari badges, in an attempt to disguise its origin. Still, the unmistakable look of the Italian model continues to draw attention wherever it goes.
