German company Helsing, a leader in artificial intelligence applied to defense, has announced the acquisition of the renowned aircraft manufacturer Grob Aircraft, through a binding agreement signed with current owner H3 Aerospace.

The transaction includes Grob’s manufacturing facilities in Bavaria and future strategic projects — among them, the next-generation TPX Cobra platform. The financial terms of the agreement have not been disclosed, and completion is subject to regulatory approval.
In a joint statement, the companies declared: “Together, we aim to develop hardware and software solutions, including artificial intelligence, for the air combat of the future.”

Grob Aircraft had already been working with Helsing on the development of the Cirra electronic warfare system, which uses AI to interpret the combat environment in real time and support tactical decisions based on high-speed data processing.

With the merger, Grob’s expertise in developing and manufacturing composite aircraft will be combined with Helsing’s mastery of intelligent mission systems. This combination is expected to accelerate the creation of highly integrated aerial platforms designed for modern combat scenarios where autonomy, real-time analysis, and technological superiority are crucial.

The acquisition also strengthens both companies’ positions in the European aerospace sector, especially amid growing interest in autonomous and AI-based defense solutions.
