Disney has revealed new details about its next major expansion at Magic Kingdom in Orlando: a fully dedicated area for the “Cars” franchise from Pixar.

The new themed land will be called Piston Peak National Park, inspired by the national parks of the United States and the Rocky Mountains. The area will feature pine forests, snow-capped mountains, and a river running through the entire setting, making it the largest expansion in the park’s history.

The site will replace Tom Sawyer Island and Rivers of America, which will remain open to the public until July 7. The new area will include a visitor lodge, a ranger station, and hiking trails, along with two attractions: an off-road adventure featuring new “Cars” characters, promising a race-like experience, and another attraction aimed at children and families, whose name has not yet been announced.

The area will extend from Liberty Square to the Tiana’s Bayou Adventure attraction and the future refurbished version of the Thunder Mountain Railroad roller coaster, which is scheduled to reopen in 2026.

Disney has not yet announced an official opening date for Piston Peak National Park, but it is expected to be completed in 2027 or 2028.
