Last Thursday (15), Apple announced the new generation of CarPlay, called CarPlay Ultra. Its use is still limited, but a video has already shown its new features.
In the clip, you can see CarPlay Ultra in action in an Aston Martin, the only car currently supporting the feature. Apple’s interface appears integrated into the dashboard behind the steering wheel, something never seen before.
The Top Gear channel made a video detailing the new features of CarPlay in the Aston Martin. Unfortunately, considering that it costs more than $250,000, we mere mortals will only have access to the feature when (and if) it becomes available in other vehicles.

Still, there are a few interesting points to note. While the system generally works just like the old CarPlay, it includes more features in the familiar interface Apple users know.
It is also much more customizable, offering different themes to choose from. For example, instead of the standard speedometer, you can display colored lines that indicate the car’s speed or fuel level.
You can also add more widgets, if you like, just as you would on your iPhone. Moreover, once it’s set up, it’s ready to use — just start the car and drive.
However, it’s important to point out that, apparently, CarPlay still requires a connection to your iPhone for some features to work.
