The United Kingdom is sending dismantlable replicas of military equipment to Ukraine with the aim of confusing Russian forces about the number and type of weapons actually present on the battlefield.

These replicas simulate vehicles such as the Challenger 2 tanks and AS-90 artillery systems, already supplied by the United Kingdom, and serve to preserve the real equipment by drawing attacks to false targets.

The replicas are produced based on digital photos of real weapons, printed on lightweight materials. They are sent dismantled and can be quickly assembled by Ukrainian soldiers on the front line. The resemblance to the original models is so convincing that even at 25 meters distance, it is difficult to notice that they are fake.

This strategy aims to deceive Russian reconnaissance systems, which use satellite images and drones to identify targets. According to British authorities, such as Colonel Oliver Todd, for every five real pieces of equipment sent, up to 30 replicas may be delivered.

The tactic, which had already been used with other equipment, such as the Stormer HVM system, proves effective to protect military resources and confuse the enemy.
