Russian soldier surrenders to Ukrainian drone and is guided to enemy troops (YouTube @martlet_bbps)
Ukrainian soldiers from the 31st Mechanized Brigade used an FPV drone to capture a Russian soldier in the village of Novosilka, located in the Donetsk region, in eastern Ukraine.
The operation was recorded on video and shows the operators receiving the mission to target two Russian soldiers. One of the soldiers was killed after an attack on a building, while the second, injured, survived and signaled his surrender. The drone then guided him to Ukrainian positions.
A similar case was recorded by the 13th Operational Brigade of the Ukrainian National Guard, Khartiia. Also using an FPV drone, they captured another Russian soldier who, upon seeing the drone, dropped his weapons and made gestures indicating he wanted to surrender. The unit then guided him out of a forest area, with the escort being completed by a Mavic drone.
Although the surrender of Russian soldiers to Ukrainian drones has occurred before, it usually involved drones like the Mavic, equipped with mechanisms to drop payloads, and not FPV models. A previous example took place in August 2024, when Ukrainian operators helped an injured Russian soldier, abandoned by his unit, to reach safety.
