Amid a tariff war launched by the United States, Europe has announced the creation of new taxes that will affect motorcycles made in the US.

According to the terms of these new European measures, motorcycles made in the United States will have an additional 50% tariff imposed, which will take effect starting April 1, 2025.

The news came last Wednesday (12) in response to the new 25% US tariffs on aluminum and steel made in the European Union. The tariffs will be levied on specific products made in the US, which include peanut butter, whiskey, jeans, and American motorcycles.

After the announcement, the European Association of Motorcycle Manufacturers (ACEM) made a call to exclude motorcycles from the US trade war.

“While we recognize the need for a balanced response to trade disputes, motorcycles should not become collateral damage in broader trade conflicts,” said the Secretary General of ACEM.

“The motorcycle industry provides high-quality manufacturing and related jobs, mobility, and access to employment for millions of people, and is a key economic driver.”

“Since no one wins in trade wars, we strongly urge a return to reason and for both parties to come to a fair solution,” he added.
