BMW has updated its R 18 cruiser lineup for 2025, bringing a more eye-catching design, improvements in comfort and technology, as well as compliance with the Euro 5+ standard.

The lineup includes the R 18, Classic, Roctane, B, and Transcontinental variants, each receiving specific upgrades. Changes include new fenders, double-spoke wheels, and vibrant colors like Dragonfire Red Metallic on the Roctane. The B and Transcontinental versions also gained a “favorites” button to make TFT screens easier to use.

Powered by a 1,802 cc boxer engine, the R 18 delivers 91 horsepower and 16.6 kgf.m of torque, positioning itself as a robust and well-built alternative to Harley and Indian.

Despite competing with traditional models like the Harley Road King and Indian Challenger, BMW keeps its prices competitive, starting at $15,395 for the base model and reaching $24,395 for the Transcontinental version.

However, the motorcycle market is shifting toward smaller, more affordable models like the Kawasaki Eliminator and Honda Rebel, which attract new riders due to their lighter weight and ease of handling.

While BMW focuses on the heavy cruiser segment with the R 18 and future plans for the R 20, it is also exploring possibilities in smaller displacements, like the 450 GS concept, which could pave the way for new models aimed at a broader audience.
